With the new tour, Nickelback will perform songs from the recently released seventh studio album, Here And Now, which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Top 200 following its November 21, 2011 release on Roadrunner Records. Propelling Here and Now into the #2 spot were the two hit singles “When We Stand Together” and "Bottoms Up.” Here and Now is also the biggest international release in Nickelback’s history, including a #1 debut in Canada on Universal Music Canada.
Nickelback has achieved a prestigious place in music history having sold nearly 45 million worldwide. Since their 2001 breakthrough hit song “How You Remind Me,” Nickelback has sent 20 singles rocketing onto various Billboard charts. In 2009, Billboard Magazine also named Nickelback “Top Group of the Decade.” Their now classic album All the Right Reasons insured Nickelback an indelible place in rock history, having spent a staggering 112 consecutive weeks in the Top 30 of the Billboard Top 200, certified eight-times platinum in the U.S. and having sold more than 11 million copies worldwide, topping charts in four countries. Nickelback
Few bands have appealed to such a wide audience -- and put on as exciting a tour date -- as Canadian rockers, Nickelback. Led by frontman Chad Kroeger, Nickelback was the 11th highest selling band of the 2000s and, to date, have sold over 35 million albums worldwide. While Nickelback has experienced their share of criticism from both audiences and critics, the group continues to button the lips of naysayers with hit records and high-attendance concert dates. Probably best known for their singles "Leader of Men," "Breathe," and "How You Remind Me", Nickelback continues to produce hit records year after year, with fans anxiously anticipating a new as-yet-untitled album. While recording has hampered tour dates in 2011, fans can expect to see quite a bit of Nickelback when recording is finished.
The origins of Nickelback can be traced to brothers Chad, Mike, and Brandon (who was permanently replaced by Daniel Adair in 2005) Kroeger. In 1995, the trio — along with Ryan Peake -- formed a band in Vancouver, taking their name from Chad's task of giving change while working at Starbucks. The next year, Nickelback released their first major label album, The State, which produced three successful singles that took the record to #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart. The group reached the next plateau of success with their third album, Silver Side Up, in 2001, which took Nickelback from supporting act to headliner on tour dates. The three lead singles, "How You Remind Me," "Too Bad," and "Never Again," all shot to the top of the singles charts. The album went on to sell over ten million copies and was boosted by Chad Kroeger's recording of "Hero" as the theme for the Spider-Man movie.
Nickelback found their success on a roll with the release of The Long Road in 2003. The album debuted at the #6 spot on the Billboard 200 and eventually went double platinum. While their next album, All the Right Reasons, was received negatively by some critics, fans loved the album and it reached #1 on the Billboard 200. The album's five singles -- "Photograph," "Savin' Me," "Rockstar," "If Everyone Cared," and "Far Away" -- all made it to the top twenty spots on the Hot 100 singles. All the Right Reasons sold over 7 million copies and spent over a hundred weeks in the top ten of the Billboard charts. Nickelback's 2008 album, Dark Horse, achieved the similar success that the band had experienced throughout their career. While the lyrical content of the album featured racier, more adult-themed tracks, fans loved it and showed their support through record sales and ticket sales on tour dates.
While fans hoping for upcoming concert dates will have to remain patient, they won't have to wait long for an announcement on the upcoming album's release. When the release of singles from the album finally comes, fans around the world can expect the release of tour dates in 2011 or 2012.
Seether
The Seether of 2005 is a far different beast than the Seether of 2002. And nowhere is that heard better than on Karma And Effect, their brand new album, which showcases a band who retains the heaviness and searing emotion of their debut, but has gelled into a more fluid, vibrant unit.
Recorded at Philadelphias Grape Street on February 22, 2006, the session features hits from the bands gold certified debut albums Disclaimer and Disclaimer II and their current release, the gold certified Karma and Effect. Included on the CD are Seethers biggest hits Remedy, Fine Again and Broken. The live concert recording also showcases some of the bands harder repertoire including Gasoline and Truth in a fresh, intimate setting that provides a unique experience for both new and long-time fans. One Cold Night highlights singer and principle songwriter Shaun Morgans heartfelt vocals and his intensity as a performer, as well as the bands superior musicianship.
The live acoustic recording comes on the heels of the band relentlessly touring for close to five years and selling nearly two million albums. The band has seen success from the beginning, but they continue to push themselves to a new place with each release. It is this type of hard work that proves Seether is a force to be reckoned with in rock music.
After Seethers debut album went gold, the band was all set to cut their second album in 2004 when they unexpectedly had a crossover hit single. Seether had re-recorded their ballad, Broken, as a duet featuring Morgan and Evanescences Amy Lee for the soundtrack to the action film The Punisher. As it climbed into the Billboard Top 10, the bands first album was issued in a new, expanded version called Disclaimer II and it became the first debut album ever to go gold twice as this revised record also met that magic mark. Suddenly, they were in demand all over the world. They scrapped their recording plans and toured Europe in the summer of 2004. Some of these new fans, attracted by the hit ballad, attended a concert only to discover that Seether was a quartet offering a beautiful marriage of heaviness and melody.
Broken may have kept Seether away from the studio, but that turned out to be a benefit. Extensive touring allowed the group time to gel and write additional material. Seven additional tracks came from that period, creating the core of Karma and Effect. Morgan says, When you get into a writing environment and everyones sitting around hammering something out, then you really understand if its gonna work or not. As Morgan explains, what made the group work was that they played off each others strengths. Dale is good at making our ideas better and then you add John into the mix - hes a really powerful drummer.
In its first week of release Karma and Effect sold 82,000 units, giving Seether the ..8 album in the country and making it the bands highest ever debuting album. Karma and Effect was quickly certified gold and the band hit the road. Seether marked yet another milestone by performing in arenas across America with Audioslave and then co-headlining the sold-out 2006 SnoCore tour. Karma and Effect went on to produce the smash hits Remedy and Truth.
The Gift, Seethers current and third single from Karma and Effect, continues to build strong radio airplay. The song is in the Top 10 at rock radio, and it shows promise as a crossover hit to pop radio. Entertainment Weekly offered, Morgan strikes rock-radio gold in ''The Gift,'' a deliciously moody ballad The accompanying music video for the track was shot on location in Oaxaca, Mexico with director Meiert Avis.
Amidst their tireless touring schedule, Seether found time to record One Cold Night. When asked about performing his repertoire in an acoustic setting, Morgan says, This is an experience for us to have some fun and present our music in a different fashion. It is amazing for us to be able to play the same heavy songs in a more intimate environment. We love it because we feel a connection with the audience and they can understand and listen to every chord that comes from the stage. Its always fun to just mix it up and that's what were all about. The quartet has plans to take the acoustic set on the road in the summer of 2006, performing both electric and acoustic shows in cities across the U.S.
The bonus DVD includes an in-depth interview with the band conducted by Philadelphias WMMR on-air legend Pierre Robert, the music video for The Gift, a behind the scenes package from the Oaxaca video shoot, and a gallery of still photos from the Grape Street performance. The set list features some rarities, including a performance of Tied My Hands, a favorite from the bands early days as Saron Gas, and a cover of Pearl Jams Immortality.
Seethers devoted fans will be rewarded with the release of One Cold Night. The CD/DVD marks several firsts for the band their first concert recording, their first live acoustic recording and their first DVD release offering a complete set. For new fans, the live recording will convey the musical integrity and intensity of vocalist Shaun Morgan and his band mates from the platinum-selling, headlining band, Seether.
