Artist Talk with Eli West, Lilia Hernandez Galusha and Vanessa Calvert
Three local artists speak about the influence and importance of fiber and textiles in their work. Eli West works across mediums, consistently utilizing fiber waste to create a raw aesthetic that playfully blends the beautiful and distrubed, primarily through felting techniques. Lilia Hernandez Galusha approaches her work through a multimedia studio practice seeking ways to tell narratives that deliver validation, understanding, or representation to herself and others. Often her works blend fiber-related techniques with storytelling, design, and mixed media. Vanessa Calvert is a mixed media artist often using fiber and found materials to explore the boundaries between stasis and motion, stability and fragility, holding and binding. Join the three artists at the YOU:(Curated) showroom at the redesigned Pickle Factory for a talk about their process, upcoming projects and collaborations, and the importance of fiber in their work.
