Columbia Amateur Radio Association Ham Cram and Testing

Saturday, September 21, 2019, 3:00 PM

Get Your Amateur Radio License in Just One Day! You can get your Amateur Radio License in a single day using our proven technique. No Morse code test is required! No pre work/studying required to take the class. This is not an Amateur Radio training course. You will not understand ham radio when you complete the Ham Cram. You will become licensed and able to learn at your own pace.  Free Amateur Radio training is offered by most local radio clubs. Who is the Ham Cram for? Ham Cram is for persons seeking their first license (Technician Class) as well as current hams seeking to upgrade from Technician to General Class. What is a Ham Cram? How to quickly and easily become a licensed ham radio operator may be a mystery to you. You may even want a license right now and not know how to get one. “Get Your License in One Day” is the perfect solution. No tedious preliminary home study. No long, boring once-a-week classes. You attend for just one day, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and you’re done. How does this work? In 1984, the FCC transferred testing for Amateur Radio licenses to certified volunteers from the ham community. Applicants now pass a 35-question multiple-choice exam chosen from a publicly-available pool of questions. A passing score requires 26 or more correct answers. Ham Cram is not a class, it is guided study session. — six 45-minute reading sessions with 10-minute breaks and a 50-minute break for lunch. The FCC exam is given at the end of the day. We divide the question pool into six segments, each containing about 60 questions. This is the most efficient way to maximize attention span and fight study fatigue. In other words, we tell you how to study, keep you doing it in an organized way, and then give you the test as soon as you are finished. It is a proven “winning formula.” You must be present all day — no exceptions. 90+% Success Rate Short-term memory is the “secret” of the high success rate. Volunteer examiners are not permitted to change either the question or the correct answers. All exam questions and answers will be what you have been studying in the session. This is the biggest reason why 90% are easily able to recognize the correct answers immediately after reading the question pool thoroughly. Testing-Only Also Available The FCC exam session at 2:30 PM is open to the public. We administer all levels of amateur radio exams: Technician, General, and Extra class. One need not attend the Ham Cram just to take an exam. The cost for the exam-only is $15.00. If you’ve paid to attend the Ham Cram, the exam fee is included. Does Ham Cram Work for Everybody? Many intelligent people have trouble with Ham Cram because they are unwilling to use the Ham Cram method. They don't believe us when we say advance study hurts and trying to "figure out" the test results in incorrect answers. Follow our directions and you will be part of the 90 percent. You must be motivated! Ham Cramming is work, boring work, and if you really don't want a ham license, please stay home. Those that don’t put forth effort will not pass the exam. People with learning disabilities may or may not have trouble Ham Cramming. Dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, etc. make cramming more difficult, but not impossible. Lots of people with these issues pass just fine. People with vision issues may have trouble but we will do everything possible to accommodate them. Please contact us and we will work with you. A Ham Cram is the easiest way, but not the only way, to get your license. If Ham Cram doesn't work for you, we will find a method that does. If you sincerely want a license, we will help you get one, whatever it takes. What should I bring to the event? Food/snacks/water/lunch, copy of any FCC license you hold, and photo ID. ID requirements. The FCC requires us to check a photo ID to confirm identity. New hams must provide a Social Security Number (no exceptions). Current hams must provide the FCC registration number (FRN) that appears on their license (no Social Security
