Connections Concerts featuring Sophie Lippert and Miguel Medina
Doors at 7:00pm, show at 7:30pm. Join Sophie Lippert (piano/cello) and Miguel Medina (flute/handpan/vocals) for an evening of multi-genre music and connection! Lippert and Medina will share stage and stories, performing both solo and in collaboration. Expect a rich evening of classical and jazz piano, flute and ceremonial song, traditional songs and original compositions. All-ages welcome for this all-inclusive, community-oriented event. About the performers: Sophie Lippert is a concert pianist who has been featured on stages with some of the Northwest's finest ensembles (Seattle Symphony, Seattle Philharmonic) and musicians (Joe Kye, Max Ribner, Saeeda Wright). She is a lauded performer and event host and facilitator, praised for her talent, precision, sensitivity, deep presence, and impeccable attention to detail. She received her degree in piano performance from Rice University, is the winner of dozens of classical music awards, and will appear as soloist performing Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue with the Olympia Symphony in February 2020. Along with her work as both a solo and collaborative performer, Sophie is also a beloved piano teacher for adults and kids, and a passionate writer, entrepreneur, and consultant. Her years of owning Vibrant Studios and heading a Community Business Collective have made her a skilled facilitator and cultivator of community, and she is now delighted to direct that energy into creating connective, multicultural live music experiences. Read more at www.sophielippert.com. Miguel Medina is a multi-instrumentalist who uses his music to honor the lineage of native peoples, land, and communities. He has spent over 20 years as a flute maker, 15 of which have provided his sole income and supported his family and built a beautiful life and large international following. His specialty is rare tunings and fancy art pieces, and he has a vibrant YouTube presence, where he features videos of the flutes he makes and sells under the name Singing Tree Flutes. Miguel is very involved in Native American ceremonies etc, and is dedicated to supporting the healing of Native and non Native people who have suffered various traumas, and to help remind and encourage people to find joy, love and unity in this life.
