Creating a Culture of Learning: Navigation Tools to Improve Performance
Disclaimer: This event is open only to SVP Partners and Encore Fellows. Mission-driven organizations take on big challenges, like poverty, environmental degradation, and educational equity. Making a meaningful difference in the world is what drives staff, volunteers, and donors to persist over the years and decades this work requires. So, how can we know if it's working? In the midst of working on society's entrenched issues, how can mission-driven organizations detect whether they're on the right path? In this session, we'll explore the ways in which evaluative thinking can help mission-driven organizations to engage in an ongoing process of quality improvement and strategy refinement. In this hands-on session, you’ll learn: The main reason why there isn't one simple metric for effectiveness for nonprofits, and what to do instead An easy-to-use process to identify key organizational questions to inform and engage staff in continuous quality improvement How to make the most of existing data to answer those mission-critical questions, and what to do when you find gaps in the data on hand The workshop will be facilitated by Corey Newhouse, a collaborating SVP Partner. Corey helps mission-driven organizations use data to get better at what they do. She's passionate about turning "evaluation" from a dreaded chore in nonprofits to a driver of learning and innovation. Coffee, tea, snacks will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring their own lunch.
