Harry Potter Day

Wednesday, September 25, 2019, 9:00 PM

The owl finally brought your admission to Hogwarts!  Arrive at Diagon Alley and pick up your unique wand at Ollivander's, burst through Platform 9 3/4 to be sorted into your Hogwarts house. From there, explore a variety of magical classes and adventures! When you start to feel a little hungry, take the Knight Bus over to Hogsmeade (the McLean House) and grab a bite from one of our delicious vendors.  In order to keep this event fun and safe for everyone, tickets are required, but free! Ticketholders will be let in during their designated time slot, or later. Tickets are available to be reserved, starting September 1st! Stay tuned for further information on this magical day!   FAQs Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event? All ages are welcome to this event, but it is geared towards kids and tweens. Due to high demand, we will only be giving out free wands to kids, aged 5-18. Anyone else is free to purchase a wand for $1 from the Book Nook (excuse us, Flourish & Blotts) during the event.  Is there a cost to attend? No, it's free! The majority of the activities at Harry Potter Day are absolutely free and provided by our sponsors, especially the West Linn Library Foundation and the Friends of the McClean Park & House. However, there are a few reasons to bring some cash... Wands! Free wands from Ollivander's will only be available for youth ages 5-18. There are wands to purchase for anybody outside this age range or not able to attend the event. You can buy a wand for your friend who couldn't make it or for mom and dad at Flourish & Blott's (ahem, the Book Nook) for $1 each.  Books! Flourish & Blott's will be operating all afternoon, so come check out their amazing collection of books and DVD's. They will even have a special Harry Potter universe collection to purchase from! Food! We will have food vendors at Hogsmeade Village (McClean House) selling delicious food and drink for low prices. You are also more than welcome to bring your own snack to munch as well! What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event? We suggest parking at Hammerle Park or WLHS and take a short walk down to the library. We highly stress that only customers of Central Village should park in their lots, so please be mindful of our neighbors!   What can I bring into the event? Come dressed up! It's also a good idea to bring something in which to carry your things, as there are a number of items you will be receiving that night.  Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event? Yes and no! In order to get in at your specified time, you need to have your ticket ready. It can be printed out or displayed on your phone. You can download the free Eventbrite app from your phone's app store to have it handy. If you need help printing or getting your tickets, please come down to the Youth Services desk and we'd be happy to assist you! Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends? Yes, when someone orders a group of tickets, all tickets will be under that one person's name. While you don't have to have your name on the ticket, make sure to be grouped with your ticket leader! How can I contact the organiser with any questions? Please feel free to contact Teen & Tween Librarian, Rebecca Mayer, with any questions. She can be reached at 503-742-6180 or rmayer@westlinnoregon.gov
