Intro to Carpentry: Collapsible Chair
NOTE: This is a TWO-DAY CLASS, with the same start and end times on BOTH DAYS. Learn how to accurately cut, assemble, and finish raw lumber to make this collapsible chair. Top and bottom sections nest for easy storage, or slide together to make a quick and comfortable chair when you need it. Make an awesome chair while taking your woodworking skills to a whole new level! (Not to mention impressing your friends and family. You might be able to barter chairs for new tools - just sayin'!) Skill level: Beginner/novice (basic familiarity with measuring, power drill/driver, and at least one power saw) Topics covered:* safe and accurate cuts on bandsaw, scrollsaw, tablesaw, and chopsaw* drillpress and power drills* assembly & finishing touches: power drill/driver, sanding IMPORTANT EVENT INFOClass fees & donations: All class fees include materials. Want to throw a little extra in to support our scholarships? There’s a donation option at registration to add any amount that you want to pay forward. A donation receipt will be included with your registration confirmation email.Scholarships: Limited scholarships are offered on every class registration page, and are generously supported by fellow students. Please accept this gift if you need it. Our only request is to limit yourself to one scholarship every 2-3 months to keep these opportunities widely available. Refund policy: We currently do not offer refunds or transfers between classes. You may, however, transfer your ticket to another person who is 18 or older. You can either log in to your EventBrite account and edit the attendee info on your registration, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with 1) the date and name of the class, and 2) first name, last name, and email address of the person you’d like to transfer your ticket to. When and where to arrive? Plan to arrive 5-10 minutes before class to settle in and be ready to go! Come in through our administrative entrance (red door across from StormBreaker Brewing and just north of our donation drop-off area.) Signs inside the entrance will guide you to the Education Shop. Please note that doors to the shop will close 15 minutes after scheduled start times. What to bring/not to bring? For your personal safety, please wear closed-toe shoes, tie long hair back, and avoid any dangling jewelry or baggy clothing. You may also want to bring a water bottle and a snack . How about public transportation/parking options? The #4 bus stops within a block of the ReBuilding Center. The Yellow Max Line (Overlook Park stop) is about a 15 minute walk away. There’s also parking available on the surrounding streets. Do I have to bring my printed ticket? No - we'd prefer to save a few trees! We can look up registration details electronically if need be.
