Jazz on the Vine - two thousand one nine

Sunday, September 22, 2019, 10:00 PM - 12:00 AM

The 18 piece band has been swinging since 2015 with a focus on latin big band arrangements. Their sound has been described as Funky, Swinging and Groovy. The Big New Band features great, modern jazz works by Bob Mintzer, Gordon Goodwin, Michel Camillo, Thad Jones, Maria Schneider, The Isley Bros., Toshiko Akiyoshi. We also play original works for big band by several local composer/arrangers including Dave Parker, Ezra Weiss, Stan Bock, and more.

Hard swinging jazz, funky tunes, beautiful ballads and latin grooves make the band fun to listen to and attract a broad audience beyond traditional jazz lovers. The band has performed at the Rose Festival, Aurora Colony Winery Summer Jazz, Hawthorne Street Fair, Michelle’s Piano Co. and area schools.

The band personnel are some of the most in-demand players in the area: rhythm section includes Mark Griffiths (drums), Ben Graves (guitar), Ken Anoe (bass), Al Martin (congas), Gina Pruitt (keys). The sax section is Lee Elderton, Catarina New, Susie Jones, Stacy Friedman. The trumpets are Garner Pruitt, Joel Riddell, Patrick Nearing, Bryce Robertson. The trombones are Stan Bock, Rick Tippets, Brandon Tabal and Andy Taylor.

Cost: $15 at the door. Food and beverage available for purchase.
