Journey to the End of the Night
Join us as Journey to the End of the Night comes to Portland, Oregon for the very first time! Join the J. Reilly New Experience (JRNE) Institute as they demonstrate their newest invention: the Weird-O-Meter, a device designed to quantify Portland's unique weirdness. "Everything will go exactly as planned," says science boardmember [redacted]. "Not a thing will go wrong. Nope. Not one thing whatsoever." Pre-registration for this event is required. Journey to the End of the Night is a street game where players attempt to traverse the city, navigating through encounters, conflicts, and mysterious checkpoints along the way. Each checkpoint will offer an experience to the players and ask them to perform tasks to earn entry to the finish line. Checkpoints are anchored by a unique art installation that builds on the theme of the year to tell a story. Of course, there’s more to it than running across a city and completing tasks along the way. What kind of journey would it be if it didn’t have some kind of antagonist? Enter: the chasers. The chasers have but one job: catch runners. If a chaser manages to tag a runner when they’re outside of a safe zone, that runner gives up their runner badge and becomes a chaser themselves. As the night goes on, the scales slowly tip, with the chasers eventually outnumbering the runners.
