Morgan James is a soul singer and Broadway actress and chanteuse who studied opera at the Julliard School. She was the first to inhabit the role of Teena Marie in Broadway's "Motown the Musical." In 2013, the New York Times music critic Stephen Holden called James "a phenomenal talent whose feel for classic soul music is bone deep."
