Portland's Own Elvis's Official Birthday Party!
Don't miss the King of Portland's day of days, on Monday, September 30th, at Dante's (350 West Burnside), from 4pm-9pm!
The King's Birthday Bash features a stellar bill of Portland talent!
Performing in Elvis's honor are (in no particular order):
MayRay - MayRay is a punk-goth power trio from Portland. Inspired by bands like Pixies and X, MayRay explores driving and sexy soundscapes that leave room for Jen Folker’s (Dahlia, Imogene) wild and unpredictable vocal stylings, with Joe Spencer (Part Time Pony, Bernhauser) on bass, and Rob Glase (Rough and Tough radio) on drums.
The Savage Family Band - Cosmic American Music for the enjoyment and enlightenment of the masses! The Savage Family Band's sound stretches from folk to punk with a little country and a lot of rock'n'roll in between, sometimes evoking Lou Reed, and other times Tom Petty, but somehow always channeling the Ramones.
Nice Stalkers - Nice Stalkers offer up a blend of punk fueled power garage-pop, and leftover doo-wop, with an amphetamine drenched 60s-era snarl, with Erik Menteer (Blitzen Trapper), Andy Mehos (aka DJ Andy Maximum), Christopher Fernicola (aka DJ Cherry Cola), and Michael Cortichiato (The Cry!).
Johnny Credit and the Cash Machine - Johnny Credit and the Cash Machine channel the sweet sounds of Johnny Cash, Elvis, and Hank Williams, while covering a broad spectrum of American roots rock and classic country. with an emphasis on 1950s Sun Records-era. Featuring Wade Oliver, Katie Oliver, Troy Stutzman, and Peter Nilsson.
with special appearances by:
Mike D - Michael Dean Damron is a "[O]ne full grown, walking bad-ass, song writing son of a bitch, with grit, groove, tone, taste and high coolness." ~Ray Wylie Hubbard
Harvey Hogwild - Otherwise known at Harvey Hogwild, HH has been entertaining Portland for decades variously as a rockstar (Hogwild), wrestler (Portland Organic Wrestling), and roller derby all-star.
Naturally, Elvis will be joining each of the bands on stage, singing some of his top hits!
Bonus: Miss Jen Lane of BarFly fame emcees and dance parties it up between bands, as everybody's favorite DJ Meow.
Good news for all you working stiffs - the King's Official Birthday Party is a bright and early affair - from 4pm to 9pm (followed by Karaoke From Hell)!
A very special Voodoo Doughnut birthday 'cake' and doughnuts will be served!
Who is this Elvis, you ask? GO BACK TO CALI.
Elvis is hands-down our burg's most recognized celebrity!
You can't miss him at Saturday Market, where he's been performing for some thirty-odd years, now, and he's often out and about in the Old Town area, greeting his old fans, and making new ones, wherever he goes.
In 2017, he was even crowned Grand Marshall of the Rose Festival Starlight Parade!
Elvis will be among the first honorees inducted into the Weird Portland Hall of Fame, at the Inaugural Weird Portland Gala, on Thursday, November 7th, at Polaris Hall.
John "Elvis" Schroder has been a good friend of BarFly and Voodoo Doughnut for years now, and it's our pleasure to present his birthday party, once again!
Elvis's Birthday Party is open to anyone 21 or older.
Cash donations to the Elvis Fund will also be accepted at the door (suggested $5 cover/person, but no one will be turned away!).
Presents for The King will be graciously accepted!
The King especially enjoys Disney and Star Wars memorabilia, trivia books, games, movies, and music of all kinds, too.
The fabulous Dante's is conveniently located at the corner of SW Third and Burnside, in beautiful, downtown Portland.
