URM Seismic Resilience Symposium

Thursday, July 18, 2019, 4:00 PM

Unreinforced Masonry (URM) buildings present a challenge for earthquake-prone communities. There are over 1,650 URM buildings in Portland and millions around the world. These structures are important historic, architectural, cultural, and economic landmarks, but their vulnerability to earthquakes imperils these buildings and the people in them. The URM Seismic Resilience Symposium, July 18-20, 2019, is a three-day event for architects, engineers, owners, property managers, and anyone that might deal with URM buildings. AIA HSW and Engineering continuing education credits will be available. The symposium will include two days of lectures focusing on topics and concerns related to URM buildings, including: Earthquake Background URM Construction and Seismic Engineering Technology Options Building Codes and Historic Preservation Requirements Seismic Upgrade Project Considerations and Costs Public Policy, Finance, and Resiliency In addition to the main two-day lectures, the symposium includes optional events that registered attendees can purchase tickets for, including: Evening Symposium Reception & Awards Presentation (Free) Evening URM Brewery Crawl Full-Day URM Seismic Upgrade Walking Tour Half-Day World Perspective Discussion on Equity, Risk, and Cost: URM Policy in Context Learn more at the event website here » Refer to the event website at aia-oregon.org/urm for additional details, which are continually updated, including: Agenda Speakers Project Awards Additional Optional Symposium Events Partnership Sponsorship Opportunities GENERAL ADMISSION TICKETS OPENING SOONSPONSORSHIPS AVAILABLE NOW!
