Veena Quartet by Sreevidhya and Chandramouli family.

Sunday, August 18, 2019, 1:00 AM - 4:00 AM

The artists perform Indian Classical music on the Veena, a Lute, in the Karaikudi tradition. This is the only living tradition of South India that dates backs to 1700s and has a lineage spanning eleven generations. Sreevidhya Chandramouli (10th generation descendent) has been teaching this art form in the Pacific Northwest for decades preserving the subtle aesthetics and beauty of this tradition both in vocal and Veena forms. Chandramouli Narayanan (9th generation descendant), an engineer by profession, in addition to teaching the music, is passionate about composing and reviving compositions. Kapila and Sushruta are 11th generation descendants and perform with their parents. The artists are accompanied by T.R. Sundaresan, a well known percussionist from India, on the mridangam.
