“CURTAIN UP” at Magenta Theater

Sunday, June 23, 2019, 2:30 AM - 5:00 AM

“CURTAIN UP” - a comedy by Peter Quilter. This is Magenta Theater’s 3rd show of its 17th season and will be presented June 7-22, 2019. It is directed by Keri Pedersen and produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Ltd. The action takes place in a derelict British theater in the 1980s.

“Curtain Up!” is a comedy about five women who inherit equal shares in a dilapidated theater and plan to bring it back to life again. The women try various fund-raising schemes, but their most ambitious is to hold a concert featuring local talent and a world-famous star, who agrees to appear for no fee! However, their plans go awry and it’s a race against time to keep their audience from guessing the truth of the matter!

Lighting Director, Tom Hubbard, and Set Designer, Duane Peterson, were amused at the prospect of having to make Magenta’s stage look ‘dilapidated’ after all the work having been put into a real-life restoration of the space over the past couple of years. This new show will truly demonstrate Magenta’s new LED lighting system’s capabilities! (No pressure, there!)
