With advanced technologies emerging in the workplace in recent years, those concerns have grown. This presentation will explore the impact of technology in the workplace and how recent innovations are revolutionizing jobs and changing how people work, including: How artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things will affect the workplace Ways to initiate change management The importance of helping employees prepare Louisa Waldman is a regional vice president for Robert Half, the world’s first and largest specialized staffing firm. In her role, she oversees operations in the company’s Oregon offices, including Portland, Eugene, and Beaverton, as well as Boise, Idaho.  Louisa oversees three of Robert Half’s specialized divisions – Accountemps, OfficeTeam, Robert Half Management Resources and Robert Half Finance and Accounting. Louisa joined the company in 1999 and has since held roles of increasing responsibility since that time. She has nearly 20 years of staffing industry experience and has been recognized with numerous company awards for her professional accomplishments. Louisa holds a B.S. from West Virginia University and is an active member of the local business community. She is part of the Go Red Executive Leadership Team for the American Heart Association, on the Advisory Board for Dress for Success Oregon and a member of Ninety-nine Girlfriends, an Oregon-based women’s organization that supports fundraising for a number of community groups. Kevin Wong is a CPA with 8+ years in the accounting and finance industry. He started his career as an auditor for Johnson Lambert & Co. After obtaining some public accounting experience, Kevin decided to move into industry at Freddie Mac. There, Kevin was in several different roles including internal reporting, corporate analysis and FP&A Kevin relocated from Northern Virginia to the Pacific Northwest last year and decided to pursue a new career path as a recruiting manager for Robert Half. "Business Tax Update" presented by Bryce Baker, CPA, Geffen Mesher This presentation will cover a general business tax update for 2019, including a discussion on the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act, the Wayfair court decision as it applies to state nexus thresholds, and the new Oregon CAT tax.  The objective of this presentation is to help the members in this group be able to provide value to their business and the stakeholders through knowledge in these tax-related areas.  The three takeaways that we want the members in this group to think about and consider are the following: 1)      Think critically 2)      Plan ahead 3)      Ask questions Bryce Baker joined Geffen Mesher in 2011 after earning his Masters in Accounting from the University of Oregon. He worked on audit and tax projects his first two years at Geffen Mesher, which gave him a balanced perspective on the two disciplines before ultimately choosing to solely focus on tax. Bryce has built his expertise working on clients in the construction, manufacturing, and dealer service industries.  His experience includes consulting related to
