"The Wiz Jr" Presented by Oregon City Children's Theatre
The Oregon City Children’s Theatre (OCCT) opens the stage at the Beavercreek Grange with its production of “The Wiz Jr.” on Nov. 14.
Adapted from “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum, “The Wiz Jr.” chronicles the adventures of a young farm girl named Dorothy. After she gets swept up in a tornado, Dorothy finds herself in the fantastical world of Oz. There, she makes new friends, battles evil witches, and seeks the aid of the all-powerful and mysterious Wiz. Ultimately, Dorothy finds that, if you believe with all your heart, you can always find your way home.
Directed by Michelle Leigh, OCCT executive director, “The Wiz Jr.” features a dynamic ensemble of children and adults from five years old and up who live throughout the Beavercreek, Oregon City, and West Linn areas. Choreography was developed by Beth Dodge, and music directed by Lacy Redmond. The full cast and crew list is available online.
The first performance is a Fundraiser Show and Gala on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:45 p.m. The cost to attend is $26 per person to help raise funds for the not-for-profit. Evening performances are Nov. 15, 16 and 22 at 7:30 p.m. with matinees on Nov. 16 and 23 at 12:30 p.m.
